Official: Iranian Companies Locally Produce 95% of Parts Needed in Elevator, Escalator Industry
Bahman Abdollahi, the head of Iran Chamber of Cooperatives (ICC), made the comments at the opening ceremony of the 12th edition of the Iran LIFTEX exhibition.
The 2023 Iran LIFTEX exhibition which specializes in elevators, escalators parts and equipment opened on Friday, July 14th at Tehran International Permanent Fairground.
“The production and quality in this industry has reached at an acceptable level based on which we hope that we will not need imports in less than five years,” he told reporters on the sidelines of the exhibition.
Abdollahi also said that the Iranian-made elevator and escalator parts are exported to more than 15 countries, adding, “The elevator and escalator industry is one of the leading industries due to its good quality. Currently, we are exporting to neighboring and European countries, and this year, good preparations have been made in the field of export.”
“More than 140 domestic companies and 15 foreign companies from seven countries are taking part in this exhibition, which helps to strengthen exports,” the ICC head added.
“As many as 1,200 devices (parts) are produced annually in the field of escalators, out of which less than 1,000 parts are used domestically while more than 200 remaining are allowed to be exported.”
The 12th International Elevators and Escalators Exhibition kicked off on Friday July 14 with the participation of more than 130 Iranian and foreign companies in the presence of ICC head Abdollahi and a number of Iranian lawmakers and other authorities.
The companies displayed their latest achievements in the field of elevators, escalators, lifts, conveyor systems, cranes, forklifts, moving walkways, and related services.
Panels with the participation of business delegations from Pakistan, Iraq, Iraqi Kurdistan Region, Afghanistan and Oman, Iranian business owners in elevator and escalator industry and representatives from Spain, Germany, Italy, Turkey and The United Arab Emirates were schduled to be held during the exhibition, which would run through until Monday July 17 in Tehran.
