Oman and Qatar Play Positive Role in Iran-U.S. Negotiations, Larijani Notes
In an interview, Larijani clarified that while there have been no direct letters exchanged between Iran and the U.S., Oman has acted as an intermediary, conveying American points for Tehran’s consideration.
During his recent visits to Oman and Qatar, Larijani highlighted the importance of strengthening bilateral economic ties, with a focus on increasing industrial investment. “Enhancing economic relations is a general policy of Iran,” he said, adding that discussions aimed to identify specific investment opportunities.
Addressing regional security issues, Larijani pointed to Israel as a disruptive force in the Middle East. He stressed the importance of political coordination to establish sustainable collective security and noted that various models have been proposed to address regional instability.
Larijani also praised the mediating roles of Qatar and Oman. He said meetings with Qatari leaders included exchanges of perspectives from other parties seeking to understand Iran’s position. “We view the efforts of Qatar and Oman in the Iran-U.S. negotiations positively,” Larijani said, “believing these efforts help reduce crisis tensions and the risk of war in the region.”
