“Our company makes 35 to 40 products, and over the past five years, 17 new products have been added to this chain in response to the needs of the oil and gas sector. In recent years, we have also become specialized in production of turbines required by the Ministry of Energy and the electricity sector,” said Ali Makhdoumi, the managing director of the knowledge-based company.

Noting that Iran imported a number of gas turbines from Russia, a significant portion of which was produced in Ukraine, he said, “At present, there are nearly 180 turbines in the oil and gas sector in Iran, and due to the Russia-Ukraine war, the need for this product has increased both domestically and internationally. We are focused on meeting this need, and this product can provide an important opportunity for exports to the Eastern European countries.”

"The countries which have gas reservoirs need this equipment to transport gas to national networks. By producing this product domestically, we were able to save 20 million euros in foreign exchange for the country in just one case. Also, making this product inside Iran has created jobs and entrepreneurship," Makhdoumi said.

In a relevant development in September, experts at the Iranian Offshore Oil Company (IOOC) had also succeeded in designing and manufacturing gas turbine equipment, including special sensors.

“We built and installed the sensor for determining the position of the breathing valves and applying it to the Siemens SGT200 model gas turbine control system of the island's power plant,” said Armin Bahrami, the head of turbine repair unit of Siri island’s Iranian Offshore Oil Company.

“One of the important components of gas turbines is the blow off valve which prevents destructive phenomena in gas compressors and plays an important role when starting combustion engines,” he added.

“The main advantage of this plan is to speed up the troubleshooting operation while notifying the operator of the bleed valve’s open and closed position,” Bahrami said.
