Iran-Made Micro Wind Turbine Generates Electricity Even with Breeze
Seyed Arash Dashti, a bachelor of nuclear energy engineering, invented the ‘vertical wind microturbine comprising an adjustable rotor, eight flexible triangular prisms and variable hub height’ with the capability of generating electricity by wind power. the microturbine works with high efficiency and productivity and rotates even with a light breeze.
“The vertical wind turbine works in a way that it starts rotating by trapping the wind which blows in the direction of its blades, and when the wind blows in the opposite direction, the blades are closed and the surface reduces friction with the wind and ultimately increases efficiency,” Dashti told ANA.
“This invention is designed in a way that it can be used in urban residential complexes, rural houses and residential areas that do not have access to electricity, and even as a portable device for mountaineers and hikers,” he added.
Dashti added that in general, the advantages of this micro wind turbine is its low cost, lightness, portability, high efficiency for generating electricity from very light breeze.
In a relevant development last year, another member of Islamic Azad University's Young and Elite Researchers Club succeeded in inventing a device that generates electricity in simple wavesو irregular seas and in any direction.
The idea of making a vertical water-based turbine with lift-and-drag blades by Mohsen Seifi Davari, an elite member of the Young and Elite Researchers Club of Islamic Azad University’s Ardabil branch, was registered internationally (IFIA).
“The vertical water-based turbine device with lift-and-drag blades is made to produce electrical energy in the seas, oceans and the coasts. It can be used for industrial and non-industrial purposes,” Seifi Davari told ANA.
“The turbine can make a one-way turn regardless of the spatial direction that the flow passes from rotor. Such unique behavior of the rotor is perfect for generating energy from ocean waves,” he added.
