“After years of dependence on the imports of this vital equipment, we have now succeeded in producing the digital radiology device domestically,” said Meysam Moqian, the production manager of the knowledge-based company.

Noting that at present, nearly 30% of the parts needed for making radiology devices are imported from abroad, he said, “The research and development team of the company is seriously working on indigenization of the X-ray detector, and we hope that soon by achieving this achievement, we will increase the share of domestic production to 80% and another step will be taken towards the country's complete self-sufficiency.”

“The Iran-made radiology devices are welcomed by the country's medical centers. At present, nearly 90% of the radiology devices installed in hospitals and medical centers are domestically produced and only 10% of them are imported. Considering the country's annual need for about 400 to 500 radiology devices, this share of the market provides a good opportunity for the growth and promotion of the Iranian producers,” Moqian said.

Earlier, in May, Iranian researchers at another knowledge-based company had also succeeded in designing and building a digital radiology device.

“This diagnostic device is mostly used for patients who are unable to go to the radiology department, and the device can be taken to the patient's bedside,” Majid Arab, the deputy managing director of the knowledge-based company, told ANA.

Noting that the device is very easy to transport, he said, “It has high rotational power and can move backwards and forwards at low or high speed. More than 700 pieces of hardware have been used for making the device.”

“The digital radiology device enjoys advantages like the highest image quality, full motorization, 360 arm and tube rotation, smooth positioning and control of device movements from the tube cover, the highest power for taking images and the lowest received radiation dose, and it can meet all the needs of ICU, CCU and emergency departments,” Arab said.
