Iran-Made Research Electrospinning Machine Able to Produce Tissue Engineering Channels, Scaffolds
Hamideh Azimi, the managing director of the knowledge-based company, noted that the electrospinning machines of the company can be equipped with a type of nanofiber collection system by which the nanofiber texture is formed under different angles.
“The research electrospinning machines of the company have been designed in a way that they can be used for the production of non-textured layers and it is possible to design all types of narrow channels for the research of artificial vessels and nerve channels, and also they provide the possibility to make and weave nanofibers in these devices,” she said.
“Our company has also invented a new type of system for the industrial production of nanofibers, by which efficient membranes can be produced for the filtration of liquids and gases. These devices are used in the fields of biological research, medicine and tissue engineering, nanomembranes, nanosensors, environment, defense, catalysts, solar cells, batteries, supercapacitors, waterproof and breathable coatings, nanoelectronics, nanocomposite, and absorbents,” Azimi said.
In a relevant development last year, researchers at an Iranian nanotechnology company had also used electrospin nanofibers on filter papers to separate particles from liquid.
Specialists at ‘Fanavaran Nano Meqyas’ company applied a thin layer of electrospun nanofibrous polymeric web which can be produced in the form of a nanoporous filter. It results in production of a superior filtration capacity, lowest pressure drop in the passing air/liquid flow and long lifespan.
Covering the surface of conventional air filters with a thin layer of the nanofibers improves filter efficiency and increases dust absorption capacity.
The product can be used in making respiratory face masks, air filter papers, and separation of compounds from liquids.
