Official: Iran’s Knowledge-Based Companies to Have 7 Percent Share of Iran’s GDP by 2028

“The share of knowledge-based companies in Iran’s GDP will hit seven percent by 2028,” Amrayee said.
He added that the current share of the knowledge-based companies in Iran’s GDP is nearly 2%, noting that therefore, it is necessary to increase sales and exports volumes of domestic knowledge-based products.
Amrayee stated that at present, the country exports $500 million worth of knowledge-based products overseas.
Once the exports barriers are removed, the country’s exports of knowledge-based products will be considerably increased, he added.
An official said in February that nearly 10,000 knowledge-based firms are active in Iran, adding the firms export over $2.5 billion annually.
Reza Bakhshi Aani, the deputy for the development of the knowledge-based economy at the Iranian Vice-Presidency for Science, Technology, and Knowledge-Based Economy, made the remarks, saying that Iran has nearly 10,000 knowledge-based firms, and their sales performance this year has set a new record, though further growth is expected.
He added that nearly 250 trillion rials (Iranian currency) of these sales came from high-tech products.
Bakhshi Aani also noted Iran’s knowledge-based firms have exported around $2.5 billion worth of products this year, including nearly $500 million in high-tech exports.
An Iranian official said in December that the products made by the Iranian knowledge-based companies accounted for 5% of the country’s exports share in the past Persian calendar year (ended on March 19).
