Iranian Scientists Produce Sugar-Free Probiotic Marmalade

The product is the result of the joint efforts of Mohammad Hossein Marhamatizadeh, the president of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the Islamic Azad University’s Kazeroun branch, Maryam Qassemi, the vice-president for Cultural and Student Affairs of the University, and Maryam Ra’fat, a student of the Department of Midwifery at the University.
The marmalade, made without the use of sugar and artificial sweeteners and by using probiotic compounds and extracts of medicinal plants, can help boost the body's energy levels, improve general health, and provide the body with the vitamins and minerals it needs.
This scientific achievement is an important step towards the development of new food technologies, promoting a healthy lifestyle, and improving the health of society, and is an indication of the high research capacities at the Islamic Azad University’s Kazeroun branch.
In a relevant development in 2022, an Iranian company had also managed to develop 25 completely herbal products, including creams which help reduction of blood sugar and cure varicose veins.
“Our activities are focused on production of health-oriented products in the field of herbal medicine. We produce the mentioned medicines based on extraction of active ingredient of the herbal plants and we have been able to obtain patent for the produced medicinal compounds,” Qassem Esmayeeli, the CEO of the Fanavar Kimiagar Group, which operates with the support of the Islamic Azad University, South Khorassan branch, told ANA.
“In general, we have been able to manufacture 25 products by using herbal plants and commercialized them. Among the products are creams for reducing blood sugar and curing varicose veins which were made for the first time in Iran,” he added.
