The move reflects rising diplomatic tensions between the two countries amid accusations from Tehran that Berlin has adopted policies undermining international legal norms.

During a meeting held on Tuesday at the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Director General for Western Europe Affairs Alireza Yousefi conveyed what officials described as a strong and explicit protest to German Ambassador Axel Dittmann.

Yousefi criticized what he called a series of anti-Iranian measures, singling out Germany’s alleged hosting and backing of individuals and groups Tehran characterizes as violent or terrorist in nature.

According to Iranian officials, such actions contradict the core principles of international law and the United Nations Charter and could carry international legal consequences for the German government.

Ambassador Dittmann, for his part, stated that he would report Iran’s protest and expressed dissatisfaction to authorities in Berlin.

The diplomatic exchange underscores growing friction between Tehran and Berlin at a time of broader regional and international tensions.
