Knowledge-Based Companies in Iran Sign Contract to Develop Environmentally Friendly Technologies for Sugarcane Industry
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the Headquarters for Development of Knowledge-Based Economy of Water, Climate and Environment and Karun Agro Industries Inc. to support the sustainable progress and complete the value chain of the sugarcane industry in Iran, including green harvesting, management of water resources, energy and agricultural waste.
Mohammad Mahdi Nourbakhsh, as the Secretary of the Headquarters, represented the knowledge-based companies in conclusion of the agreement with the Karun Agro Industries Inc.
Establishing a circular economy (as a model of production and consumption) in Karun Agro Industries Inc., developing environmentally friendly technologies in the sugarcane industry in cooperation with knowledge-based companies, producing valuable products from sugarcane waste and effluent and increasing resilience and improving productivity through the implementation of smart systems in water, waste and energy management are among the goals of the agreement.
With the establishment of Karun Agro Industries Inc. co-creation center, a suitable ground for the establishment of knowledge-based and technological companies will be laid in order to boost the innovation and technology ecosystem of the country. Moreover, with the help of joint production plans, not only higher added value in existing products will be done, but also action would be taken to tackle environmental issues.
