Iranian Factory Launches Production of ATY Yarn with Domestically Produced Equipment
In a ceremony attended by Rouhollah Dehghani Firouzabadi, Iranian Vice President for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy, and Governor of Qazvin, the ATY yarn production line with an annual production capacity of 2,200 tons was inaugurated and put into operation at Nafis Nakh knowledge-based company in Qazvin province’s Lia Industrial Town.
Ahmad Jarian, the managing director of the knowledge-based company, said that the new production line has a nominal annual production capacity of 2,200 tons of yarn, adding, “With the help of this production line, Nafis Nakh Company would be able to produce texturized yarn products with air jet texturizing, which have the same properties as wool or cotton yarns. It is considered to be one of the leading technologies in yarn production that has been now indigenized.”
It has also put the production of polyester yarn, which has wide applications, on the agenda. Polyester yarn are used in all textile products such as blankets, cloth, safety belts.
He continued to say that they have also put the production of polyester yarn, which has wide applications, on the agenda. Polyester yarn is utilized in different textile products such as blankets, cloth, and seat belts.
"Nafis Nakh Company has been able to activate more than nine external companies producing yarn by supplying them its products, and many factories across the country are operating now because of Nafis Nakh and they produce its products," he further said.
Stating that the company's products are exported to neighboring countries, Jaraian added, "As a result of domestic production of these products, the import of many related products has decreased, which has laid the ground for making savings in foreign currencies."
"Because of this company yarn production, jobs have been generated for 780 people. Meanwhile, 60% of the parts and equipment needed by this industry, which is subject to sanctions, were made by the experts of this company," he highlighted.
Pointing out that the recent development of the company has created jobs for 50 people, he added, "With the launch of the new production line, it will create stable jobs for another 200 people. Currently, about 10 to 20 percent of the company's total production tonnage is exported, which will increase to 50 percent of the company's production by the end of the year 1403 in the Iranian calendar (to end on March 20, 2025).
"Texturized yarns that are produced using compressed air is one of the most diverse methods of texturing yarn. One of the characteristics of this method is the combination of different types of raw yarns."
Texturized yarns are produced through an air jet nozzle. With air texturizing, the yarn forms crimps and loops, which affects the tactile and tensile properties.
The purpose of this texturizing process is to obtain characteristics and appearance characteristics similar to cotton, wool and acrylic spun yarns, under stretching and heat treatment by compressed air. These ATY yarns are used as beams, wefts and mats for carpets, tricot weaves, and home and industrial textiles.
