Iranian Knowledge-Based Company Produces Deep Well Inspection Camera, Steerable Deep Drilling Robot

TEHRAN (ANA)- A knowledge-based company in Iran has offered to the market a fourth generation (4G) video camera and deep drilling robot in order to be employed in restoring and recovery of dry water wells.

“After five to 10 years of use, the wells would face erosion, the water network is clogged, sediment is deposited and the water flow is reduced, and the wells become out of service and have to be recovered,” Abolfazl Hassani, the managing director of the Iranian knowledge-based company, said, according to the report by the Iranian Vice-Presidency for Science and Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy,

“First, we identify the flaws and problems inside the well with the locally-produced camera, and in the next step, we fix the deformation and blockage of the well with the jack device and restore the well and make it reflow again,” he added.

Hassani went on to say that the grooves around the metal pipe in deep wells are often clogged due to the deposits of water salts, lime and sand or the well falling. “Over time, this problem would result in a decrease in water flow into the well, and as a result, the water level goes down and the well loses productivity. To solve this problem, there are different methods, one of the most efficient which is to create a new groove using a well wall grooving machine.”

The knowledge-based company’s managing director further pointed to the reasonable price of the Iran-made machine as compared to that of foreign-made imported ones, saying that the contractors have to pay only one fifth of the imported machine for the Iranian-made one.

The 4G deep well videometry camera that come out with an integrated aluminum body can perform inspection operations up to a depth of 500 meters inside the well. The imaging system includes two cameras with wide 120 degree viewing angle, one installed vertically for depth imaging and the other horizontally with the ability to rotate 360 degrees for imaging the wall of the well to ensure that everywhere in the well is inspected.

The vice-presidency’s report continued to say the lighting section of this camera includes eight LED Power, with a special composite resin coating, while being highly resistant to hits, scratches, blurring and water penetration. By generating strong and uniform lighting, it is possible to have transparent and high-quality images from inside the well. Moreover, using waterproof connectors to connect the camera to the cable, the camera can be easily separated from the cable after the operation and placed in a special box so that it is not damaged during transferring and carrying it. Also, not directly connecting the cable to the body protect the cable from stretching and tearing resulting from the weight of the camera.
