Azad News Agency (ANA) published a number of scientific and technological news during the past week whose top ones are as follows:

Iran-Made Rectifiers Make Remote Monitoring, Control Possible

A knowledge-based company in Iran has manufactured a home-made product with advanced control capabilities called ‘Switchmode Cathodic Protection Rectifiers’ that provides the possibility of remote monitoring and control.

“The company's product is more up-to-date in terms of design and technology than the models available in the market, and our switchmode cathodic protection rectifiers have higher efficiency, lower energy consumption, and more stable performance,” Javad Kolahdouzan, the managing director of the knowledge-based company stationed at the incubator center of Islamic Azad University, told ANA.

“This product enjoys advanced control capabilities that provide remote monitoring and control, and these features have made various industries, specially in the oil, gas, and petrochemical sectors, interested in using this product,” he added.

“We also have plans to export our products to the regional countries and collaborate with foreign companies. Also, we are trying to develop new products in the fields of artificial intelligence and industrial electricity,” Kolahdouzan said.

Iran to Use Knowledge-Based Firms’ Capabilities to Develop Telecommunications Equipment

The secretary of Iran’s Headquarters for the Development of the Knowledge-Based Economy of Machinery Manufacturing and Advanced Industrial Equipment visited a knowledge-based company in the electronics sector, stressing the need for using such companies’ capacities and capabilities to develop telecommunications  and space equipment.

During the visit by Mohammad Mehdi Hadavi, the achievements and technologies of the Iranian Electronic Industries Company were assessed, and while introducing the technological achievements of the company, the importance of using the capacities and capabilities of knowledge-based companies in the development of space technology and information technology, by developing indigenized capabilities in the space field, was emphasized.

During the four-hour visit, the achievements and capabilities of the Iranian Electronic Industries Company in the field of telecommunications and space equipment were introduced. Also, referring to the role of knowledge-based companies in the development of indigenous technologies, the basis for concluding a memorandum of understanding focusing on the design and production of indigenous satellites using the capabilities of knowledge-based companies was discussed.

The knowledge-based company is active in the fields of optics, telecommunications equipment, and medical and Iranian equipment.

Iranian Knowledge-Based Firm Produces BBU for Rural Internet Coverage

A knowledge-based company in Iran has taken steps to develop rural Internet and provide communication services to deprived areas by producing a home-made baseband unit (BBU).

“This product, which is designed and manufactured based on global LTE standards, plays an important role in the development and promotion of the fourth-generation mobile networks in Iran,” said Ali Akbar Tadayyon, the managing director of the knowledge-based company.

“This product processes and transmits high-speed wireless data, leading to better and faster services,” he added.

Tadayyon referred to the key features of the BBU722, and said, “This product operates in based on the international standards by supporting a large number of simultaneous users and providing standard download and upload services in operators' frequency bands.”

"Our company’s BBU is designed based on the needs of Iran’s communication network, and in addition to high quality, it has greater security than foreign models due to the native LTE protocol layers. Also, providing customized services and full support is another advantage of this product," he underlined.

New Handbook Introduces Capacities of 500 Knowledge-Based Companies to Develop Underprivileged Areas in Iran

The second edition of the Innovation and Technology Ecosystem Capabilities Handbook has been published in Iran.

This handbook has gathered information about 500 knowledge-based companies to solve the challenges of housing, agriculture, employment and health in the less-privileged areas of the country.

The book has been published with the aim of developing the less-privileged areas of the country with the help of the knowledge-based firms.

This valuable booklet presents a collection of capabilities of 500 knowledge-based and technological companies in five key areas, including housing and rural development infrastructure, agriculture, animal husbandry and fisheries, small-scale employment, health, sanitation, rehabilitation, soft industries and education.

Iranian Official Stresses Formation of Consortiums of Knowledge-Based Firms

Head of Iran’s Innovation and Prosperity Fund Mohammad Sadeq Khayyatian underlined the necessity for the formation of consortiums of knowledge-based companies in different areas, specially in the medical field.

“One of the most important measures that helps develop exports, specially knowledge-based exports, is the creation of a consortium. For instance, in the field of medical equipment, we can export the products of companies active in this sector to different countries by forming a consortium and creating an export brand. Or even to implement a hospital project in a foreign country, a consortium can be formed and take over the entire project, and the components of the consortium are composed of knowledge-based and capable companies in different sectors of the medical equipment sector,” Khayyatian said.

“Supporting the knowledge-based companies in the path of exporting knowledge-based products is one of the priorities of the Innovation and Prosperity Fund, and we declare our readiness in terms of financing and supporting this sector,” he added.

Official: 300 Iranian Knowledge-Based Firms Active in Agricultural Sector

The head of the Institute for Breeding and Seed Production and Improvement of the Iranian Ministry of Agriculture said that 300 knowledge-based companies are active in the country’s agricultural sector.

“Based on the figures from the Agricultural Research, Education and Extension Organization, we have 300 knowledge-based companies, and their number should increase to 1,000,” said Mohammad Zamanian.

“At present, out of 300 knowledge-based companies in the agricultural sector, 3 companies are active in the Institute for Breeding and Seed Production and Improvement of the Ministry of Agriculture in the fields of vegetables, summer crops, oilseeds, grains and the production of fruitful garden seedlings,” he added.

Zamanian explained that the work plan of the Institute for Breeding and Seed Production and Improvement of the Ministry of Agriculture is to increase hybrid varieties, adding, “We have intense competition in the vegetable and summer crops sector.”

Iranian Company Uses AI to Revolutionize Persian Language Processing

An Iranian knowledge-based company has a indigenized a high-quality artificial intelligence engine in Persian language that offers all the services provided by platforms like ChatGPT to the Iranian users.

This Iranian artificial intelligence engine is designed in two versions; a professional version for organizations and businesses; and a demo version for the public use.

The home-made AI engine enjoys some competitive advantages, including focus on Persian language due to the Persian database and optimization of algorithms and the performance of this engine in Persian language processing has a significant advantage over foreign models.

Another advantage of the Iranian AI engine is data security and due to hosting and no transfer of user data abroad it creates high confidence for organizations and businesses.

Efficiency with less investment is another advantage of the Iranian AI engine and despite lower development costs, it has outperformed foreign competitors in some areas.

The company has also held negotiations with companies in countries like Iraq and Lebanon to offer the platform's services to the regional markets.

New Nanofabrication Standard Approved in Iran for Luminous Nanomaterials

A new standard from the IEC Technical Working Group 113 series of standards entitled ‘Nanotechnology – Nanofabrication – Material Properties – Part 4-1: Luminous Nanomaterials – Detailed Specification without Assigning Values’ has been approved.

The development of this standard was put on the agenda of the Standards and Safety Group of Iran Nanotechnology Innovation Council in response to the needs of the nano research and industrial sectors in the field of electronics, the production of lighting devices and displays, as well as the study of luminous nanomaterials used in lighting and display applications.

The purpose of this standard is to provide a detailed specification without assigning values ​​and a template for listing the essential optical and other specific features of single-scattering luminous nanomaterials. This standard enables the customer to specify the requirements in a standardized manner and to verify through standardized methods that the luminous nanomaterials have the required properties.

The mission of IEC Technical Working Group 113 (IECTC113) is to develop IEC publications based on quality management (QM) principles to facilitate the transition of nanomaterial and nanofabricated products from development phase to mass production.

Official: 17 World States Import Iran-Made Biotech Medicine

ran has exported biotechnology drugs to 17 countries in the world, an official said.

Secretary of the Biotechnology Development Headquarters of the Iranian Vice-Presidency for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy Mostafa Qaneyee put the current value of the nanotechnology medicines exported from Iran to other countries at above $200 million.

He noted that the government of President Massoud Pezeshkian is trying to indigenize the largest high-value products, including insulin and plasma, within the next two years and solve the existing problems.

Iran’s Kaveh Port Records over 24,000 TEU Containers of Loading, Unloading

A member of the board of directors of Qeshm Island’s Customs Office announced that Iran’s Kaveh port has registered more than 24,000 TEU containers loading and unloading of goods.

“This year, with the activation of Kaveh port, a record of unloading and loading of over 24,000 TEU containers was recorded,” said Mohammad Mansour Azimzadeh Ardebili.

“This is while the unloading and loading at the same port between 2020 and 2024 was 600 to 700 TEU annually, and in 2025 this figure will finally reach 7,800 TEU,” he added.

Iran Health Expo to Hold Special Pavilion for ‘Expert Iranian Expatriates’

The secretary of Iran Health Exhibition 2025 announced that a special pavilion for the Iranian experts who have started a knowledge-based businesses in the health sector after returning to the country will be held during the show in June.

Amin Reza Khaleqian referred to the registration of 400 domestic companies at the Iran Health Exhibition, and said, "We expect the number of participants to increase compared to the previous round.”

“Over 80 side and educational events are planned for the benefit of participants and visitors,” he added.

Iran Ready to Cooperate with IOFS in Livestock Farming, Production of Agricultural Machinery

Iran’s Agriculture Minister Gholamreza Nouri Ghezeljeh in a meeting with Berik Arin, the director-general of the Islamic Organization for Food Security underlined the country’ preparedness to cooperate with the IOFS in the fields of livestock and poultry, and agricultural machinery production.

“Iran has made significant achievements in the livestock and poultry sector, and has also taken an acceptable position in the world in the production of medicines and vaccines in this field,” said Nouri Ghezeljeh in the meeting.

Noting that Iran is ready to cooperate in the field of research and study, plant improvement and conservation, and livestock breeding with the IOFS members, he said, “We also enjoy the capability to produce agricultural machinery like tractors and other equipment needed for agriculture.”

Also Arin, for his part, said that Iran is a leading country in the region in terms of advanced technologies and sustainable agricultural development.

“Many member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation need Iran's capabilities. We had agreements in the field of training that can be an organized and systematic opportunity to transfer the Iranian knowledge and information,” he said.

NISOC Signs Contract for 180 tons of Drilling Fluid Waste Control Material

The National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC) has inked a contract for the mass production of 180 tons of strategic drilling fluid waste control material and the Technology Research Institute of Khuzestan’s Academic Center for Education, Culture and Research.

The drilling fluid waste control material is one of the key materials in the oil drilling industry that is used to prevent the waste of drilling mud in the formation layers. By filling the gaps and holes in the well wall, this material prevents the loss of drilling fluid and helps the stability of the well wall.

“This product has received the necessary approvals from the National Southern Oilfields Company after passing numerous laboratory and field tests,” said Behnam Qodrati, the deputy-head of Khuzestan’s Academic Center for Education, Culture and Research.

“Considering the indigenization of the technical know-how for production of this material, the quality of this product has shown better performance in most field indicators than similar foreign samples,” he added.
