Iran’s Abadan Refinery Increases Diesel Fuel Production by 4 Million Liters
Fardin Rashedi made the remarks in a press conference, noting that the refinery’s daily gasoline production will also increase by 8 to 10 million liters as operational conditions stabilize.
He added that all products at the refinery will be upgraded to meet quality standards within the next 40 months.
Rashedi also pointed to the construction of a 210,000-barrel distillation unit and the launch of the Middle East’s largest hydrocracker unit at the refinery, saying that over €1.2 billion has been invested in stabilizing the refinery’s capacity.
Mohammad Sadegh Azimifar, the CEO of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC), announced in October that the country’s gasoline production will increase to 129 million liters per day by the end of the 7th Development Plan (2023-2027).
Azimifar said that the company will strive to achieve this goal by focusing on increasing the production of high-quality petroleum products in existing refineries and completing refinery projects with more physical progress.
He added that in the first seven months of this Iranian calendar year, which began on 20 March 2024, the volume of liquid fuel delivered to power plants increased by 38 percent compared to the same period last year.
The official noted that gasoline consumption increased by 7 percent (1.6 billion liters) compared to the same period in 2023, which was sustainably supplied using existing capacities for transfer and distribution.
Elsewhere, he emphasized the need for optimal planning in the production sector to ensure a stable supply of liquid fuel in the cold season, noting as far as the current month’s performance is concerned, "we have managed to increase the production of gasoline, diesel, and fuel oil by increasing refinery feedstock and addressing bottlenecks and operational measures".
