Iran to Boost Gasoline Production Capacity by 2 Million Barrels

NIORDC Managing Director Jalil Salari said that the country’s current gasoline production capacity stands at 115 million liters per day, adding that it will increase to 117 million liters per day by increasing feedstock in a number of refineries.

“We need to make a small investment in three pipeline projects to that end,” he added.

In relevant remarks in November, Managing Director of Iran’s Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC) Mohammad Hossein Motajalli had also announced that the country is ready to exploit gas from the phase 11 of the South Pars gas field after major overhauls.

"By carrying out the overhaul, starting early production from the phase 11 and operating the new pipeline of phase 16 is possible and we are ready for sustainable gas production in the winter," Motajalli said.

“By performing the overhauls on the production platforms, we are ready to extract maximum gas from this joint field (with Qatar),” he added.

Motajalli said that seven million cubic meters of gas can be extracted from the phase 11 of the South Pars per day in winter.

“The overhauls that were carried out this year in the South Pars gas platforms were the most different major repairs in the lifetime of the South Pars gas field, and while 23 years have passed since the first days of extraction of this gas field, the isolation operation of marine lines from the South Pars gas platforms was carried out for the first time,” he noted.

South Pars is currently divided into 24 standard phases on the Iranian side and is estimated to contain a significant amount of natural gas, accounting for about eight percent of the world’s reserves, and approximately 18 billion barrels of condensate.
