Iranian Specialists Develop Mini Combine Harvester
“The agricultural machine has been designed and built based on the real needs of farmers due to the height of the leguminous plants, like chickpeas, linseed, lentils, flax seeds, mung beans, cumin and coriander, is between 20 and 35 cm, and the fact that harvesting of these products is mainly done by hand,” Mohammad Omid, the managing director of Ofoq Arasbaran company, stationed at the incubator center of the Islamic Azad University's Ahar branch, told ANA.
“The mini-combine machine helps the farmers to increase the legume crops from 2 to 5 hectares to 30 to 50 hectares by expanding the cultivation area, and this important thing leads to income generation at the village level and youth employment,” he added.
Omid noted that since the production of legumes and medicinal plants in the country is significant, the combine harvester can be useful and can also be exported.
In a relevant development in 2022, Iranian specialists at Islamic Azad University’s Arak branch had also managed to design and build a hand-held combine machine for harvesting flowers and aerial parts of medicinal plants.
“The device weighs 1.5kg and it has a harvesting head and a collection tank and the speed of the cutting head can be changed manually,” said Gholamreza Naderi, a faculty member and the coordinator of the National Medicinal Plants Plan of the Islamic Azad University.
He added that the hand-held combine is made of aluminum with a steel sheet and the head blades of the machine are replaceable, noting that the machine can also be installed on a light chassis and wheels in flat and wide lands.
Naderi said that the versions two and three of the hand-held combine are being designed, adding, “A small engine is designed on the new version of the device to increase efficiency which is charged with a dynamo connected to the head belt, and when the user becomes tired, he/she can use engine power to rotate the head.”
He said that a GPS can be installed in the third version of the machine to record the location and time of harvesting the product, adding that a digital scale is also installed to measure the weight of the harvested product.
