Iran-Made System Alarms Malfunction of Medical Equipment

TEHRAN (ANA)- Researchers of a knowledge-based company in Iran which is active in the field of smartization and Internet of Things (IoT) succeeded in designing a technological system which informs the hospital staff about the condition of medical equipment.

“The products of our company are inspired by the technology of safety in mines. The new system is used for hospital employees, patients and medical devices inside the hospital,” Nima Atayee, the founder of the knowledge-based company, told ANA.

Noting that there are a number of devices and equipment in hospitals that should always be available to the medical staff, including portable radiology devices or electronic shock devices that have high sensitivity, he said, “Therefore, there may exist several devices in hospitals which are broken or have technical defects, and they cannot be used by the medical staff immediately.”

“Our knowledge-based product can greatly reduce the costs of hospitals in the field of on call instruments by providing timely information on condition of the medical equipment,” Atayee said.

In another development in August, researchers of a knowledge-based company in Iran had also succeeded in making an electroplasma sterilizer device which uses hydrogen peroxide vapor for safe disinfection of medical equipment.

“This device sterilizes and disinfects medical equipment with its safe and secure operation. It also reduces the microbial load of food, increases shelf life and eliminates toxins in food,” Amir Hossein Zarif, the managing director of the knowledge-based company, told ANA.

He added that the electroplasma sterilizer device in medical centers uses hydrogen peroxide steam along with the pre-vacuum phase in the sterilizer for the low temperature sterilization process, noting, “This device works by using oxygen, hydrogen and nitrogen plasma.”

Zarif stated that the device performs sterilization by using hydrogen peroxide steam, adding that the vacuum and plasma help better sterilization.

“In this method, first the equipment is placed inside the chamber and the vacuum pump starts working. After reaching a stage close to complete vacuum, the hydrogen peroxide vapor penetrates into the injection chamber and into all parts of the chamber. Hydrogen peroxide enjoys the capability of killing microorganisms like bacteria, fungi and parasites,” he added.

Zarif underlined that the laboratory, semi-industrial and industrial sample of the product has been produced and it is now in the process of obtaining a license and presentation to the market.
