“Our company has designed and put into operation new online systems which are used in various marine areas. One of these systems is the atmospheric and ocean forecasting system,” said Maryam Tabatabayee, one of the researchers of the project.

She described hourly wind and wave forecast for the next 5 to 10 days and the ability to update every 6 hours (four times a day) as advantages of the system, saying, “This system is also capable of predicting the wind speed, direction of wind, hurricane speed, wave height and maximum wave height.”

“Prediction of meteorological parameters, including wind speed and direction, relative humidity, cloudiness, air temperature, horizontal and vertical visibility and quick warning of unexpected storms are among other capabilities of the system,” Tabatabayee said.

She noted that researchers of the knowledge-based company have also resolved the challenges in the field of oil spills in the Persian Gulf by designing and putting into operation the oil pollution tracking system.

Tabatabayee elaborated on the performance of this system, saying, “Management of the cleaning process of oil spills in the country’s waters has become possible by this system. After receiving a report about the oil spills, the system determines the distribution area of oil pollution based on the wind direction.”
