Islamic Azad University’s Researchers Produce Tablet Biofertilizers with New Formulation
"Our product includes new formulations of agricultural, chemical and biological fertilizers. The most important difference between our product and others existing in the market is the type of their formulation. The formulation has changed and they are slow-release and keep the nutrients for a longer period of time, and the soil does not suddenly lose its nutrients,” said Vahid Zarrinnia, a faculty member of the Department of Plant Medicine and the head of the Farmer Research and Development working group stationed at the incubator center of the Science and Research branch.
“Biofertilizers have been presented in the form of tablet for the first time and can be used for home, nursery and greenhouse applications. They include fungi and bacteria that promote plant’s growth. When they are absorbed by the soil, the soil becomes spongy and the moisture stays in the soil for a longer period of time. They colonize plant roots and prevent pests from attacking the soil. They also dissolve insoluble nutrients and make them ready for the plant,” he added.
Zarrinnia explained that the tablet biofertilizers are a good choice for the householders who use chemical fertilizers and they can apply them easily.
The 23rd Exhibition of Research, Technology, and Techmarket was inaugurated at Tehran Permanent International Fairgrounds on December 10 and wrapped up on December 14.
Islamic Azad University participated in the exhibition with 300 research and technological products, and five knowledge-based products have been manufactured in the incubator center of Science and Research branch.
