Iranian Knowledge-Based Firm Manufactures Explosion-Proof Compressors

TEHRAN (ANA)- Mehdi Hadavi, the secretary of Iran’s Knowledge-Based Economy Development Headquarters for Manufacturing Machinery,  announced that an Iranian company has succeeded in production of explosion-proof compressors.

Hadavi visited one of the compressor manufacturing companies during which the latest achievements of the company in the field of designing and manufacturing industrial compressors and process gases were displayed.

The company has been able to indigenize explosion-proof screw compressors and special types of corrosive, toxic and neutral gases, and in addition to meeting the needs of domestic industries, has paved the way for these products to enter the regional markets in accordance with international standards.

At present, the company has a certificate of innovation and has put in place the necessary processes to receive knowledge-based certificate approval from the authorities.

In a relevant development in December, Iranian researchers at a knowledge-based company had also succeeded in indigenizing centrifugal compressors used in the oil and gas industries.

“Centrifugal compressors are classified as dynamic compressors due to their radial thrust flow. These compressors increase the kinetic energy of the cooled gas by using rotating blades, and as a result, the pressure and temperature of the fluid also increase,” said Alireza Sadri, the managing director of the knowledge-based company.

Noting that centrifugal turbocompressors can produce a very high volume of compressed fluid, equivalent to several smaller compressors from other technologies, such as screw, he said, “These features play an effective role in optimizing energy consumption, increasing production efficiency, and decreasing costs. Also, with their high speed, they produce continuous and uniform compressed air, which prevents shocks in the consumption network.”

“These compressors are divided into two types of single-stage and multi-stage. Each of these categories can be divided into drip, pressurized and oil-free types in terms of lubrication system. The oil-free type, by using frictionless magnetic bearings, reduces mechanical wear and improves reliability and efficiency. These compressors have an energy production capacity of up to 35,000 kW and are very suitable for industries that require high pressure. In addition to having a compact and lightweight structure, the compressors are also able to work with a wide range of fluids, including helium and liquid nitrogen,” Sadri said.
