Exports of South Korea's ICT Products Increase

TEHRAN (ANA)- South Korea's exports of the information and communications technology (ICT) products experienced a hike for two consecutive months.

The ICT products shipment gained 9.4 percent from a year earlier to 20.58 billion U.S. dollars in March after inching up 0.2 percent in the previous month, according to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.

Semiconductor export jumped 11.8 percent to 13.06 billion dollars on robust demand for high-value products such as double data rate 5 (DDR5) and high bandwidth memory (HBM) products used in generative artificial intelligence (AI) chipsets.

Display panel shipment rebounded 1.3 percent to 1.64 billion dollars following the launch of new smartphones, and mobile phone export advanced 14.5 percent to 1.00 billion dollars.

Shipment for computers and peripherals surged 28.1 percent to 1.31 billion dollars, but communications equipment export shrank 0.4 percent to 220 million dollars.

Import for ICT products grew 6.8 percent over the year to 12.21 billion dollars in March, sending the trade surplus in the ICT industry to 8.37 billion dollars.

Import for chips and mobile phones gained ground last month, but those for display panels and communications equipment declined in double digits.
