CEO: IGTC Operates over 40,000 Kilometers of High-Pressure Pipelines

The IGTC is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and operating over 40,000 kilometers of high-pressure pipelines, 94 gas pressure boosting facilities, and 347 turbo compressors, Peyman Khazrayee said.
He also added that 252 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas have been transferred through the network by the end of Dey 1403 (January 19, 2025), marking a 4-bcm increase compared to the same period last year.
Khazrayee noted that since the beginning of the current year (March 20, 2024) over 252 bcm of produced gas were transferred through the network for residential, industrial, and power plant use.
He stated that during this year’s cold days, seven gas transfer records were broken compared to previous years, reflecting the round-the-clock efforts of the company’s employees amid declining temperatures and rising natural gas consumption.
Stressing the company’s physical assets, Khazrayee said additionally, the company manages 9,000 kilometers of active fiber optics and 4,000 kilometers of nationwide microwave links within its communication infrastructure.
He referred to the official commissioning of the Shahid Dehshir 8 gas pressure boosting facility, the ICT and IOC building in Gas Transmission Region 2, and the pipeline operation centers in Yazd, Sari, and Ilam during the Ten Days of Fajr (January 31-ebruary 10).
These projects were developed by Iran Gas Engineering and Development Company. Over the past year, approximately 5,000 kilometers of intelligent pigging and cleaning, 38,500 kilometers of leak detection, 2,000 meters of pipeline replacement, 126,000 square meters of coating replacement, and 34 hot taps were carried out on nationwide pipelines.
He emphasized that the company has completed major overhauls of 47 gas turbines, supplied and delivered clean industrial computers and external hard drives, and addressed all aspects of maintenance services, including the provision of gas turbine parts.
In a relevant development in December, Iranian Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad announced that the country’s annual natural gas production has increased to 275 billion cubic meters.
Paknejad made the remarks while addressing the opening ceremony of the 26th Ministerial Meeting of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) in Tehran.
He underlined the importance of the forum as a leading international event in the global gas industry.
“This meeting is a good opportunity for exchange of views among the member and observer countries of the forum, as well as experts and specialists in the gas industry so that the bright horizons of cooperation can be shared and strengthened even more than before,” the minister said.
Paknejad added that natural gas now constitutes over 70% of Iran’s energy consumption mix.
