Pakistani Minister for Power Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari reaffirmed Pakistan's plans to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 50 percent by 2030, emphasizing the critical role of clean energy in achieving this target.

"Pakistan is fully committed to promoting renewable energy, and the Power Division is carefully formulating policies to provide affordable and sustainable electricity to consumers," the minister said.

Highlighting the challenges of transitioning to clean energy, the minister stressed the need for technical and financial assistance from countries equipped with advanced clean energy technologies.

He noted that such support is crucial for converting 30 percent of fossil fuel vehicles into electric vehicles (EVs) by 2030, a key milestone in Pakistan's energy transition plan.

Reiterating the government's dedication to affordable and sustainable electricity, Leghari pointed out that the government already reduced electricity tariffs for EV charging stations by 44 percent earlier this month to attract investments in the sector and encourage the adoption of electric vehicles.
