Iranian Knowledge-Based Firm Makes Traffic Violation Recording System
“We presented the first radar device for recording speed violations that was in accordance with the World Health Organization standards and installed it in the cities of Tehran and Shiraz. We have now been able to produce a large number of traffic violation recording systems that are based on those standards,” said Amir Ahmad Sepehri, the managing director of the knowledge-based company.
He described 60 percent reduction in traffic fatalities in Tehran as one of the advantages of the system, and said, “Speed violations which led to fatalities have decreased from 1,800 people per year to less than 800 people.”
Sepehri noted that 240 speed violation recording devices have been installed in Tehran.
In a relevant development in 2023, another knowledge-based company in Iran had also succeeded in designing and making a smart car traffic control system that works 24 hours a day, obviating the need for security guards.
“One of the products of our company is the smart car traffic system,” Keyvan Doustkam, a faculty member of Islamic Azad University’s Arak branch and the managing director of the knowledge-based company, told ANA.
"‘Dezhpol’ car license plate reader system or car traffic control system is installed in front of the parking lot doors and records the passage of cars. During the traffic of cars, the door is opened and closed intelligently for vehicles that have a license, and there is no need for security guards,” he added.
Noting that the system works automatically and 24 hours a day, Doustkam said that it can also be applied in municipalities, intersections, etc.
“The system can also be used to register and record statistics, and if a car passes a red light, this system will take an image and a fine will be recorded,” he stated.
"Dejpol car traffic control system uses artificial intelligence algorithms that make it work with very cheap hardware, and it should only be installed on a computer system for use," Doustkam said.
