Iran-Made System Records 8 Types of Details from Vehicles
Researchers at a knowledge-based company that is active in the field of developing artificial intelligence-based tools have developed a product called an intelligent road traffic recording system that records vehicle traffic on the country's roads, including date, time, vehicle image, license plate image, license plate number, vehicle speed, vehicle type, and vehicle lane.
The company's system has now been successfully installed and launched on more than 1,200 road cameras in Iran. The performance of this very high-quality product has also been approved by the Traffic Police and the Road Administration Organization.
Based on police tests, this product has a license plate reading accuracy of at least 98 percent, a speedometer accuracy of at least 97 percent, a vehicle type recognition accuracy of at least 98 percent, and a lane recognition accuracy of about 100 percent.
In a relevant development last year, another knowledge-based company in Iran had also produced a license plate-recognition camera that enjoys unique software features and an accuracy of more than 98%.
“The license plate-recognition camera is the main product of our company and we worked on it for nearly three years, and its hardware and software were designed and developed by the experts of our knowledge-based company,” Ali Mahjour, the managing director of the knowledge-based company, told ANA.
“The license plate-recognition camera has so far been installed on North-Tehran freeway, and Tehran municipality and Karaj municipality are also using it,” he added.
Mahjour described recognition accuracy of over 98%, coverage of four lanes, operation in conditions of congestion and high traffic, embedded processor, no need for a separate computer, sending traffic information in real time, web user interface, reporting with functional filters and camera settings through the interface as the important features of the camera.
“License plate-recognition camera, error-free traffic counter system, new generation IBCM of car, new generation of Telematics Boc of car and monitoring and reporting system of temperature and humidity of inner and outer city roads are among the products of this company,” he underlined.
