Iranian Company Develops Software, Hardware for Reading License Plate by Motorcycle

“Our knowledge-based company has made a product which is used by the police and municipalities to record violations and intelligent management of the on-street parking,” Hamadreza Kohandani, the chairman of the Board of Directors of the knowledge-based company, told ANA.

Noting that the product has a violation code from the Iranian traffic police, he said, "The violation code means that the cameras are allowed to be sent directly to the country's traffic police enforcement system to apply a fine while recording the violation."

Very high accuracy of license plate reading in motorcycles, high maneuverability, very high operating speed and very low cost of manpower for registration of on-street parking are the important features of the knowledge-based product, Kohandani said.

“This is the only system in Iran that performs operations and the entire license plate reading process on a motorcycle without the need for a server,” he added.

In a relevant development in February, another knowledge-based company in Iran had also produced a license plate-recognition camera that enjoys unique software features and an accuracy of more than 98%.

“The license plate-recognition camera is the main product of our company and we worked on it for nearly three years, and its hardware and software were designed and developed by the experts of our knowledge-based company,” Ali Mahjour, the managing director of the knowledge-based company, told ANA.

“The license plate-recognition camera has so far been installed on North-Tehran freeway, and Tehran municipality and Karaj municipality are also using it,” he added.

Mahjour described recognition accuracy of over 98%, coverage of four lanes, operation in conditions of congestion and high traffic, embedded processor, no need for a separate computer, sending traffic information in real time, web user interface, reporting with functional filters and camera settings through the interface as the important features of the camera.

“License plate-recognition camera, error-free traffic counter system, new generation IBCM of car, new generation of Telematics Boc of car and monitoring and reporting system of temperature and humidity of inner and outer city roads are among the products of this company,” he underlined.
