Iranian Firm Developing Indigenized Authentication Service to Prevent Transfer of User Data Abroad

“We are developing this product to provide a domestic service with better quality than foreign services, and the authentication service prevents transfer of identity data abroad,” said Dariush Zahed Manesh, the managing director of Betna company.
Noting that in the field of information technology, the most important asset is data, he said, “As long as there is no data for artificial intelligence, no analysis can be done, so as long as our data is abroad, we cannot make significant progress in the field of artificial intelligence, and it is necessary to maintain our data inside the country and use it commercially."
In a relevant development in 2023, Iranian researchers at a knowledge-based company in Iran had also successfully developed an artificial intelligence system for recognizing documents.
Mehdi Hashemi, the managing director of this knowledge-based company pointed to the design, production and commercialization of smart scanners for identifying passports, national ID and other documents in their company and said, “Spending a lot of time to manually register documents information was a challenge in this field; therefore, we decided to design such a system. This device has the capability to read document data without user intervention and using artificial intelligence technology, and it can also recognize fake documents.”
“Speed, accuracy and security are the advantages of the smart scanner device, and the range of use of this device is so wide that in addition to hotels, it can be used in international traffic control, travel agencies, electronic visa issuance centers, traffic control systems, airports and commercial oil tankers,” Hasehmi added.
