Iran’s Chemical Analysis Center Increases Scope of ISO 17025 Certification of Specialized Labs
“This certificate, which is known as one of the most reliable international standards in the field of laboratories, shows the capability and high quality of laboratory services in this center,” said Mahnaz Qanbarian, the director of the chemical analysis center.
“ISO 17025 certification allows laboratories to perform their processes and test results in accordance with international standards. This certificate includes a detailed assessment of the processes, equipment, and the expert staff of laboratories, to ensure the accuracy and correctness of the test results,” she added.
“This center enjoys modern laboratory equipment and devices to carry out some specialized tests, including the measurement of 220 toxic residues in various food and agricultural products, determining the profile of amino acids, and measuring all mycotoxins, including aflatoxins of groups B, G, ochratoxin A, and ziralenone. , doxynivalenol, phomycin B1, B2, aflatoxin M1, patulin, and vitamins,” Qanbarian said.
Nearly 2,500 laboratories across Iran are members of the strategic technologies laboratory network of the Iranian Vice-Presidency for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy, an expert said in September.
“The laboratory network was established in 2004 under the supervision of the Iran Nanotechnology Innovation Council upon an order by the then vice-president for science and technology,” Mohammad Zomorrodi, an expert of the laboratory network of strategic technologies of Iran, told ANA.
Noting that Iranian researchers were facing many problems to find the equipment they needed in the province where they worked or studied before the establishment of the network, he said, “Not all universities can have FESEM (Scanning Electron Microscope), so the laboratory network has made it possible to search for the needed equipment and possibilities.”
“At present, nearly 2,500 laboratories across the country are members of this network. Of this amount, 1,800 laboratory centers are definite members of this network,” Zomorrodi said.
An Iranian official had earlier announced plans to establish an integrated national laboratory network in the country.
Yaqoub Fat'hollahi referred to the creation of scattered laboratory networks by the Iranian government, including the Science Ministry and the Vice-Presidency for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy, and underlined the need for the establishment of an integrated national laboratory network.
