Iranian Company Makes Cascade Refrigeration System
Cascade cycle is a type of refrigeration process that has industrial applications and requires a wider range of temperature. This refrigeration system was designed and produced by an Iranian knowledge-based company stationed at Islamic Azad University’s Kerman branch.
“Our company has succeeded in designing and producing all types of cold storage, industrial chillers, air conditioners, refrigeration packages, air washers, mold and powder ice makers, cooling taps, split ducts, etc. and has built one of the most common cycles in refrigeration called the cascade refrigeration system,” Mohammad Mehdi Keshtkar, the managing-director of the company, told ANA.
Noting that it is a two-stage cascade cycle whose performance coefficient is higher than the one-stage refrigeration cycle, he said, “The cascade cycle is used in those industrial applications that require a wider range of temperatures. In cascade cycles, two condensing refrigeration units are coupled together in the middle exchanger. The high temperature unit of the cascade cycle can work with working fluid like ammonia, propane or ethanol... and the low temperature cycle with refrigerants like carbon dioxide and R23.”
“Optimizing the performance coefficient of the laboratory model, equippment with a double submerged cascade condenser by using nanofluid to improve heat transfer, which has not been used in any similar foreign samples, the highest performance coefficient and the lowest energy consumption compared to similar samples, and application of natural refrigerants like carbon dioxide and Ammonia, which are not harmful to the environment are among advantages of the cascade refrigeration system,” Keshtkar said.
In a relevant development in February, a technological company in Iran managed to indigenize industrial refrigerators equipped with home-made switching power supply.
“The company's products are in several fields, including refrigeration and thermal controllers, lighting, converters and medical equipment, some of which have been mass-produced and some new products will be unveiled soon,” Hossein Harasi, the managing director of Fanavar Sepid Solar Energy company stationed at the incubator center of Islamic Azad University’s Ardabil branch, told ANA.
Noting that a number of products made by the company, including industrial refrigerators, were previously imported, he said, “With studies and research, we produced switching power supply with a high voltage range, optimized it and used it in the refrigeration and thermal sectors.”
“Other products of our company are applicable in elevator industry, including converters used in factories, measuring medical products and hospital equipment,” Harasi said.
