Iranian Knowledge-Based Firm Produces Organic Yeast, Milk Acidophilus Bacteria
Yeast extract is one of the company's knowledge-based products. Yeast is a single-celled microorganism from the fungi type, and yeast extract consists of contents of a yeast cell without its wall, which is used as a food supplement, flavoring, or nutrient in microbial culture media.
Yeast extract is rich in amino acids and B-family vitamins (except B12) and is used as a nitrogen source in microbial culture media.
Lactobacillus acidophilus, which is also called ‘milk acidophilus bacteria’, is another product of the company. This bacterium enjoys high resistance to acidic conditions and, by working in a small amount of oxygen, ferments carbohydrates and produces lactic acid. On the other hand, it is important for women's health in combating harmful bacteria in the reproductive system.
In some cases, in yogurts with low pH, it contributes to creating the right texture and flavor, along with Streptococcus thermophilus and Lactobacillus delbrueckii subspecies bulgaricus bacteria.
Reducing blood cholesterol, combating food pathogens (Clostridium, Salmonella, Escherichia coli, etc.), reducing oral infections and dental plaque by combating Streptococcus mutans bacteria, having positive effect on women's health, and improving irritable bowel syndrome and digestive health are some advantages of the product.
In a relevant development in May, an Iranian knowledge-based company had also managed to produce probiotic yeasts that meet needs of the country.
Probiotic supplements and yeasts are among the products based on biotechnology and are considered essential for health.
Probiotic yeasts can be used for the production of various fermented foods, enhancing their nutritional and sensory properties.
The company is active in the field of large livestock including cows, sheep, horses, and goats as well as poultry, aquatic animals, and bees, Ahmad Khosroshahi, the managing director of the company, said.
“We are trying to improve the breeding of these animals by using the products so that their consumption by humans is associated with the least harm.”
He referred to the production of probiotic yeasts for livestock and poultry as one of the research fields of the company, adding that the production of probiotic supplements is another field of activity.
He pointed out that since it is not possible to eliminate all the harmful bacteria and also because of the resistance created by the use of antibiotics, the company has produced probiotic supplements and yeasts to increase the beneficial bacteria in the living environment of humans and animals.
