Iran-Made Product Capable of Recycling Waste Steam in Industries
Yousef Farazandeh from the Islamic Azad University, Meybod branch, said the product is able to recycle steam from spray dryers and industrial steam exhausts.
“We have built the prototype of the system and it is currently ready for customers to visit in one of the factories in Yazd,” he told ANA.
He made the remarks on the sidelines of the national Asreh Omid Event which was held in late May in Tehran’s Grand Mosalla with the participation of 3,000 knowledge-based companies, laboratories, research teams, and startups.
In water-consuming industries, the exhaust steam released from the chimney is called waste steam.
For instance, cement factories, steam power plants, rubber companies, petrochemicals, and plastic industries have exhausts from which steam comes out, and in some industries, the steam is accompanied by a number of environmental pollutants, Farazandeh explained.
The system has no domestic and foreign counterpart, he said, adding that the product recycles the exhaust steam using renewable energies.
Farazandeh pointed out that there is free energy in the environment. When we use the term "new energies" it means that instead of using electrical energy to cool the steam, we reduce energy consumption by using environmental factors such as shading, breezing, night cooling, and ambient temperature.
He went on to say that some 540 kcal of energy is needed to increase the temperature of steam per liter of water.
In a reverse process to convert and condense the steam into water, the same amount of energy must be consumed. So, we used open air to do the process so that the energy is not consumed and the process is economically justified.
We designed a series of thermopanels, hydropanels, exchangers, and traps for the system, and we create molecular fatigue with different alloys, Farazandeh noted.
Therefore, the refrigeration cycle no longer consumes energy. In the winter and also at night, energy consumption is very low. During the day, energy consumption is also very low and cheap, he concluded.
The Asreh Omid Event aimed to exhibit new achievements and products in the technological and innovation arenas in line with opening new windows towards strengthening the idea of creating ground for knowledge-based businesses at the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Islamic Azad University.
