Malaysia's Manufacturing Sales Up 5.5 Percent in May
The Department of Statistics said in a statement that the increase was mainly underpinned by double-digit growth in the electrical and electronics products (12.2 percent) sub-sector.
This was followed by the growth of non-metallic mineral products, basic metal and fabricated metal products (8.9 percent); and food, beverages and tobacco (7.7 percent) sub-sectors.
In comparison with the preceding month, the sales value expanded by 1.1 percent.
More than two-thirds of the sales value was contributed by export-oriented industries, which improved further by 4.6 percent year-on-year.
From January to May, the sales value of the manufacturing sector in Malaysia reached 765.5 billion ringgit, rising by 3.3 percent as compared to the same period of 2023.
