Iran Trades over 55 Billion US Dollars of Non-Oil Products with Neighbors in 11 Months

TEHRAN (ANA)- The value of Iran’s non-oil trade with its neighbors reached $55.275 billion in the first 11 months of the current Iranian calendar year (to end on March 19), showing a 2.5 percent increase.

Mohammad Rezvanifar, the head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA), said that the non-oil trade with the neighboring countries weighed 88.54 million tons in the said period.

During the mentioned period of time, Iran exported 67.108 million tons of goods worth $25.844 billion to its neighbors, while importing 21.432 million tons of commodities valued at $29.431 billion, he said.

Rezvanifar added that Iran's exports to neighboring countries in the first 11 months of this year compared to the same period last year decreased by three percent in terms of weight and nine percent in terms of value, respectively; and imports from neighboring countries increased by 11 percent and 15 percent respectively in terms of weight and value.

He named Iraq, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Turkey, Pakistan, and Afghanistan as the top importers of Iranian goods among the neighboring countries, and the UAE, Turkey, Russia, Oman, and Pakistan as the main sources of imports in the said period.

Rezvanifar had announced in January that the country exported 101.904 million tons of non-oil goods valued at $36.43 billion during the first nine months of the current Persian calendar year.

Rezvanifar underlined that the nine-month non-oil exports indicates 26.48 percent growth in weight, but 0.68 percent fall in value, year on year, adding that the country's exports in the first nine months of this year, including oil, electricity, and technical and engineering services, and excluding the export via suitcase trade, reached $63.97 billion.

He put the value of the exports of oil at $26.46 billion, electricity at $300 million, and technical and engineering services at $780 million in the first nine months of the current year.

Rezvanifar also said that Iran has imported 28.7 million tons of goods worth over $48.4 billion in the first nine months of the current year, of which $60 million was the value of electricity import.

The nine-month import indicates a 12.29 percent rise in value and six percent growth in weight, year on year, he added.

The deputy economy minister also said that the imports of basic goods to the country reached 18.374 million tons in the first 9 months of the current year, valued at $12.116 billion.
