Iran to Inaugurate Strategic Space Center in May

“We have four strategic and important space centers in the country, one of which is under construction in Khorassan Razavi province, Chenaran city, and we hope to inaugurate it by May next year,” said Salerieh.
He added that an important infrastructure that is being added to this station is the Space Object Observatory, noting that this advanced and automatic observatory monitors satellites and space objects.
It will be built and developed within the framework of international cooperation with the Asia-Pacific Space Cooperation Organization (APSCO), Salarieh said.
Iranian Minister of Communications and Information Technology (ICT) Issa Zare’pour had announced in 2024 that Iran was constructing the largest space center of the West Asia region in its southeastern port city of Chabahar.
During a visit to Sistan and Balouchestan Province on Thursday, the ICT minister said the Chabahar Space Center, currently under construction, will become the largest space center in the West Asia region.
The first phase of the center, 56% of which has been completed, will come into operation in early February 2025, he said.
Zare’pour also unveiled plans for the first launch from the new base in the current Persian year, which will end on March 20, 2025.
