Iran Imports $1.6 Billion Worth of Gold Bars in 10 Months

TEHRAN (ANA)- Iran's customs statistics show that a total of 1.6 billion worth of gold bars were imported into the country in the first 10 months of this year of 1402 in the Iranian calendar.

“Iran imported a total of 24.5 tons of gold bars, worth $1.6 billion, during the first 10 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2023 through January 20, 2024),” said Mohammad Rezvanifar, the director general of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA).

Rezvanifar, who is also Iran’s deputy economy minister, further said that in month of Dey of this year (December 20, 2023 through January 20, 2024), 5.4 tons of gold bars worth $352 million were imported into the country.

Meanwhile, Rezvanifar said that in the month of Dey last year of 1401 in the Iranian calandar, gold bars purchase was only 176 kg valued at $9 million.
