Iran in Talks with Russia, Belarus to Export Home-Made Centrifugal Compressors
Iranian researchers at a knowledge-based company succeeded in producing a centrifugal compressor which has been able to attract customers in the Russian and Belarussian industrial markets.
The centrifugal compressors produced by the Iranian knowledge-based company enjoy a power of 450 kW to 1 MW which can produce pressures of 5.5 to 13 bar, and their air intake capacity ranges from 3,000 to 10,000 cubic meters per hour.
Another feature of the product compressors is their possibility to compress air to the desired pressure in a wide flow range, in a way that the ‘Turn Down’ ratio for the compressors is between 20% and 35%.
Also, the company has supplied ‘single-shaft centrifuge’ to many employers in petrochemical, refinery, chemical, cement, steel and transportation industries.
“The centrifugal compressors produced by our company are both more complex in construction, and in many ways, enjoy higher efficiency and a lighter foundation than the ‘single-shaft’ centrifugal compressors which are similar models, and at the same time require lower maintenance and repairs,” said Nima Sejdeh, the managing director of the knowledge-based firm.
He added that the company is in talks with the Russian and Belarussian industrialists to export the compressors to the two countries.
Iran, Cuba Agree to Strengthen Agricultural Cooperation
Iranian and Cuban agriculture ministers in a meeting in Tehran agreed to further consolidate mutual cooperation between the two countries in different agricultural areas.
Agriculture Minister Mohammad Ali Nikbakht and his Cuban counterpart Ydael Jesus Pérez Brito held a meeting in Tehran to discuss ways to expand agricultural cooperation between the two countries.
During the meeting the two sides reached primary agreements to enhance cooperation in various agricultural fields.
In the meeting, Nikbakht underlined the need for more enhanced agricultural cooperation between Iran and Cuba, saying that it would benefit the interests of both countries.
He referred to Iran's huge achievements in the agricultural sector, saying that his country is ready to share these experiences with friendly nations.
Nikbakht also stated that Iran produces a large part of its agricultural needs, adding that shrimp and fish farming, and production of horticultural products, are among Iran’s points of strength.
Brito, for his part,said that his country welcomes making use of Iran's agricultural experiences and supports the presence of Iranian investors in Cuba.
Iranian Company Produces Medical Moulages, Manikins for Training Nurses
A knowledge-based company in Iran produces nursing training manikins and moulages to improve nursing skills and patient care with simulator practice.
“Our company started its activity 15 years ago with production of simple training moulages and mannequins. Later, we developed the business and today we have moved towards intelligent moulages and manikins,” Shoja Hashemi, the Chairman of the board of directors of a knowledge-based company said.
“Injection is among daily routine works of a doctor or a nurse. Vein detection and injection cannot be practiced on humans; rather, it should be done on simulators that are similar to anatomy of the human body,” he added
“Analyzing, examining and getting feedback from manikins becomes possible using artificial intelligence. For example, by equipping the recovery mankins with artificial intelligence, it will be possible to know at the end whether the recovery operation was successful or not,” the researcher said.
“In different countries, such as the United States, strict regulations are put on the use of moulages and Mankins. For example State of California has recently passed a law that resuscitation simulators without feedback should not enter the market. This law shows the importance of training processes for doctors.”
Hashemi pointed out that there is a variety of moulages and Manikins for training doctors and nurses in examinations, injections, anatomy, gynecology and obstetrics, emergency and medical emergencies, adding, “Our main customers are medical schools, Red Crescent, emergency, clinics and some cosmetic doctors and surgeons.”
Iran Unveils Production Line of New Home-Made Injectable Anti-Cancer Drug
Iranian Vice-President for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy Rouhollah Dehqani Firouzabadi unveiled the domestically-developed production line of the injectable anti-cancer drug, cyclophosphamide, at an Iranian knowledge-based company.
Addressing the unveiling ceremony, Dehqani Firouzabadi said the country needs nearly 400,000 doses of the drug every year that will be sufficiently met with the new production line.
Cyclophosphamide is used to treat a wide range of cancers, including blood and ovarian cancers.
Also, Mehdi Abbasi, the head of Alborz Park of Science and Technology, which hosts the knowledge-based Nano Alvand company, underlined the positive effects of the new drug in treating a wide range of cancer types.
“This injectable anti-cancer drug is used to treat patients suffering from various types of cancer, including leukemia, ovarian, breast and eye cancer,” he said.
Abbasi underlined that by launching the production line of cyclophosphamide, the country does not need to import the drug anymore.
Iran Registers 761% Growth in Iron Ore Concentrates Exports in First 8 Months
Iranian steel producers have increased their exports of iron ore concentrates by 761% in the first eight months of this year of 1402 in the Iranian calendar year (started March 21) compared to the same period last year.
The figures released by the Iranian Steel Producers Association (ISPA) showed that there has been a significant growth in exports of the iron and steel products, especially in the exports of iron ore concentrate, iron ore pellets and sponge iron.
In the first eight months of this year of 1402 (March 21-Novemeber 21, 2023), 1,855 tons of long steel products were exported, which was 23,000 tons less than the same period last year (1,878 tons).
The export of flat-rolled steel increased from 265,000 tons in the first eight months of 1401 to 295,000 tons in the same period of this year, which shows an 11.3% increase.
In the 8-month period this year, 2,150,000 tons of steel products were exported, which did not record a significant change compared to 2,143,000 tons exported in the first eight months of last year, indicating only a growth of 0.3%.
Moreover, 4, 908,000 tons of steel ingots were exported, which is 7.4% more than the amount of steel ingots exported in the same period last year. 4, 570,000 tons of steel ingots (intermediate steel) had been exported last year.
Official: Tens of Iranian Women among World's Top 1% Most-Cited Scientists
Head of the Islamic World Science and Technology Monitoring and Citation (ISC) Institute Ahmad Fazelzadeh announced that 135 out of 938 Iranian researchers are standing among the world's top one percent most-cited researchers in 2023.
“Based on the latest report of this institute, there are 557 highly-cited Iranian female researchers among the highly-cited researchers, which constitute 12.75% of the highly-cited Iranian researchers,” Fazelzadeh said.
He added that some 135 out of 938 Iranian researchers who have been recognized among the world's top one percent most-cited researchers in 2023 are female scholars.
Women are an important part of society, playing an important role in the development of human societies, Fazelzadeh said.
He added that according to the Stanford University List which was conducted by a number of researchers from Stanford University and the Elsevier Institute via analyzing the data of the Scopus database, 60 highly cited Iranian female researchers are among the top two percent in the world (service performance) in eight subject areas including Clinical Medicine, Chemistry, Biomedicine, Strategic Technologies (Artificial Intelligence, Nanotechnology, etc.), Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, Physics and Astronomy, Information and Communication Technology, and Engineering.
In 2023, 938 top researchers affiliated with Iranian organizations have been identified, which shows a 12 percent increase compared to the previous year. Over the past decade, the number of highly-cited researchers in the country has been growing.
Iranian Knowledge-Based Firm Develops Platform to Introduce Small, Rural Businesses
Specialists of an Iranian knowledge-based company designed a platform through which the products of small and rural businesses are introduced to people.
“We introduce small and rural businesses to the market, tell the story of products, and communicate with the customer this way. In addition, we have an online business school that teaches business processes to become successful in their field of activity,” said Mohammad Bannazadeh, the managing director of the knowledge-based company.
“Nearly, 3,000 businesses have introduced their products through our platform, and some of them have managed to sell products up to 80 to 90 million tomans per day,” he added.
Noting that the platform helps businesses to be seen and introduced to others, Bannazadeh said, “Businesses also transfer their experiences to each other in the form of virtual or face-to-face meetings. So, in general, the participation of people in each other's growth and the dialogue that happens between them can be our biggest achievement.”
Iran Launches Production Line of Mixed Insulin
A pharmaceutical company in Alborz province in Iran has started production of a new generation of insulin for diabetic patients.
A ceremony was held at a pharmaceutical company in Alborz province attended by the head of Iran’s Food and Drug Adminstration (FDA), officials from the Ministry of Health and some other officials during which the production line of a new generation of insulin for diabetic patients was inaugurated.
After the ceremony, the production of new generation of insulin (combined immediate-acting and long-acting insulin) was started.
The FDA chairman, Heider Mohammadi said at the ceremony, "Every year, 30 million insulins are produced in the country.”
Moreover, Alireza Esteghamati, a specialist in endocrine and metabolism, addressed the ceremony and said that the diabetes figures are on he increase in the country.
"There are two types of insulins in the newely produced item. Both insulins are quick-acting and long-acting. This feature can be of great help to patients who have to inject insulin several times a day.”
“The world has welcomed new treatments, so, weekly and monthly insulins are being produced,” the specialist said.
Iran Launches Production Line of New Generation of Recombinant Vaccines
Iran launched a production line for the new generation of recombinant vaccines to meet the country’s needs in cases of biological crises.
“Recombinant vaccines are the solution to biological crises in the country,” said Reza Bani Hashemi, the head of the Research and Development (R&D) Department of Razi Vaccine and Serum Research Institute (RVSRI), on the sidelines of a ceremony to launch the production line of the new generation of recombinant vaccines at Razi Institute.
He noted that the production line is the industrial scale-up site for the research, development and production of recombinant vaccines and the advanced adjuvants that did not exist in the country.
“One of the advantages of this site is the conversion of all recombinant vaccines to an industrial scale, and another positive point is the ability to turn ideas into products,” Bani Hashemi said.
“At this site, we are capable of bringing new generation of vaccines that are being produced in the world to the production stage at a higher speed than foreign producers,” he stated.
Iranian Scientists Produce Chimney Dust Meter
Researchers at an Iranian knowledge-based company succeeded in producing a chimney dust meter with one third of the price of foreign models which can be used in different industries.
“Our product is a chimney dust meter that all industries need to have to report to the environment department every three months, and if any violation is proven, they will be heavily fined,” said Mohsen Hamidi, the managing director of the knowledge-based company.
Noting that the device has been produced with high precision, he said, “All the devices that were produced in this field were imported so far and we tried to manufacture a high-quality device that is made based on the standards of foreign devices and one third of their price.”
“We have made a device which is compatible with Iran's domestic industries, has passeed all product standards, and its price is one-third or even one-fourth of foreign devices,” Hamidi said.
Iranian Cardboard Manufacturing Firm Recycles 95 Percent of Consumed Water
An Iranian cardboard manufacturing company makes most of its products by using recycled paper and cardboard and treats over 95% of consumed water.
“Paper making is one of the industries that use a lot of water, but considering that our factory has been located in a desert area and water is scarce, we have installed a highly strong wastewater treatment system that can almost make us zero discharge and at least 95% of our water consumption is recycled,” Hossein Kermani, the production manager of Kavir Moghava Ardestan company, told ANA on the margines of the 30th International Print Pack Expo 2023 held from December 13th to 16th, 2023, at Tehran International Permanent Fairground.
“We have also used the latest technology while consuming other forms of energy like gas and electricity, and we monitor them constantly to consume the minimum amount of energy,” he added.
Asked about the company’s motto of “being green”, Kermani said, “This means that we also recycle paper, and most of our products are manufactured by recycled paper, either in the form of cardboards or in the form of recycled paper strips for packaging.”
“Another sign of our company’s environmentally-friendly activities is that we are growing one million saplings in our company's premises which are irrigated by the factory's own treated water,” he added.
Noting that the company is able to produce cardboard with better conditions than the foreign samples and with the world-class quality, Kermani said, “We prevent foreign currency’s exit from the country, and we use raw materials and chemicals made by the domestic producers.”
Iranian Specialists Manufacture Airend for Screw Compressors
Iranian researchers at Islamic Azad University managed to design and develop the airend part of screw compressors for the first time in the country.
“This product is widely used in various industries, including the automotive industry, oil and gas industries (extraction and transfer of related fluids), medical field, and heavy and light industries, etc.,” Salar Mousazad, a chemical engineering student at Islamic Azad University’s Tabriz branch, told ANA.
Elaborating on advantages of the product compared to piston pumps, he said, “Piston pumps enjoy the capability to produce and transfer up to 10 times more of fluid, while screw compressors are four times stronger than the piston pumps.”
“These pumps are significantly used in heavy oil and gas industries and they produce power in very large volumes and very high powers (about 700 horsepower),” Mousazad said, adding that other advantages of these pumps include very low noise and inertia compared to other compressors, easy access and low price compared to foreign models.
Iran Gains Technological Know-How for Production of Cryogenic Cold Box Heat Exchanger
Iran has joined the club of six designers and manufacturers of heat exchanger of seven-phase cryogenic cold box.
The Iranian oil ministry’s experts managed to produce the high-tech component of the cold box by reliance on the country’s knowledge-based companies.
The equipment can be used in the ethane recycling unit of the South Pars Gas Complex (SPGC).
Cold box is among the most essential equipment of refineries and used for natural gas liquification, LNG cold utilization, ethylene production, methane production, air separation, boil-off gas (BOG) condensation, and CO-H2 separation.
The cold box made by the Iranian knowledge-based Hilavis Arina company is nearly 20% cheaper than the foreign model.
Chinese Company Seeking to Establish Packaging Machines' Production Line in Iran
A leading Chinese company active in production of packaging machines and beverage can production machines is mulling over establishment of a production line in Iran and increase cooperation with the Iranian firms.
“Woolley Automatic Machinery is a leading supplier of packaging machines, including PE tube machines, laminate tube welding machines, and beverage cans production machines,” Himmy Yin, the Sales Manager of Woolley Automatic Machinery Ltd. (Shanghai), told ANA on the sidelines of the 30th International Print Pack Expo 2023 held from December 13th to 16th, 2023, at Tehran International Permanent Fairground.
He explained that their machines are designed to meet the needs of businesses of all sizes, from small startups to large corporations, adding they want to expand their business to Iran and seek joint ventures with the Iranian companies.
When asked about his perspective on having a joint venture with the Iranian companies, Himmy Yin expressed his company’s interest in cooperation with Iran.
He underlined that he and his colleague have traveled to Iran to pave the ground for launching a production line in Iran with after-sales services, repair services, and a one-year free warranty.
Asked about his ideas for improving exhibitions in Iran, Himmy Yin said that it was the first time that they were participating in such an exhibition in Iran, adding that they met many potential customers on the first day itself.
He added that some of the exhibition agents in China recommended this exhibition, specially for packaging machinery suppliers, stressing that they would also participate in the next year's exhibition to evaluate the machinery packaging market and suppliers for future cooperation.
