Iran, Cuba Agree to Strengthen Agricultural Cooperation
Agriculture Minister Mohammad Ali Nikbakht and his Cuban counterpart Ydael Jesus Pérez Brito held a meeting in Tehran to discuss ways to expand agricultural cooperation between the two countries.
During the meeting the two sides reached primary agreements to enhance cooperation in various agricultural fields.
In the meeting, Nikbakht underlined the need for more enhanced agricultural cooperation between Iran and Cuba, saying that it would benefit the interests of both countries.
He referred to Iran's huge achievements in the agricultural sector, saying that his country is ready to share these experiences with friendly nations.
Nikbakht also stated that Iran produces a large part of its agricultural needs, adding that shrimp and fish farming, and production of horticultural products, are among Iran’s points of strength.
Brito, for his part,said that his country welcomes making use of Iran's agricultural experiences and supports the presence of Iranian investors in Cuba.
He accompanied Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel during his visit to Tehran.
Seven cooperation documents and memoranda of understandings (MOUs) were signed, and a joint statement was issued during the Cuban delegation’s visit to Iran.
