Iranian Health Minister Underlines Joint Production of New Vaccines with Cuba
"We have had age-old cooperation with Cuba since 1979 after the Islamic Revolution until now in the field of creating health networks in the country," Einollahi said during a visit to Cuba within the framework of Iranian President Ebrahim Rayeesi’s trip to the Latin American country.
Noting that Cuba is one of the advanced countries in the field of vaccine production, he said that the vaccine production technology was imported from Cuba to Iran.
“Based on these agreements between the two countries, we plan to increase the volume and types of our vaccines in a bid to produce newer vaccines," Einollahi said.
He added that also hi-tech drugs, specially for the treatment of cancer, will be produced in cooperation with Cuba.
President Rayeesi visited Havana and was welcomed by Cuban officials at José Martí International Airport.
At the head of a political and economic delegation, Iran's president visited Venezuela, Nicaragua and Cuba to bolster the relations with friendly countries.
