Iran-Made Nano Insulation Protects Adobe Structures

TEHRAN (ANA)- An Iranian knowledge-based company stationed at Arak Science and Technology Park has been able to design and produce a special insulation based on nanotechnology which can protect adobe structures.

“We have been able to patent 2 new insulators in the company with very cheap materials which can insulate greasy surfaces,” said Ali Jamshidi, the managing director of Qarb Adhesive Company.

Noting that concrete adhesive and tile adhesive are among other products of his company, he said, “Nano insulation has been made for all surfaces which absorb water. This insulation can be used inside the mortar and can be used to protect the structure in desert and mountain buildings where the temperature is high during the day and low at night.”

“This product has been exported to Iraq and Armenia, and we are also in talks with Tajikistan for exports,” Jamshidi said.

In a relevant development in September, an Iranian nanotechnology firm had also produces a special thermal insulation which has applications in different industries and buildings.

“This product is a thermal insulation coating that replaces traditional products. The use of nanomaterials improves the performance of the thermal insulation so that the heat transfer coefficient decreases in this product and the specific heat of the coating increases,” said Narges Saffarian, the chairwoman of the board of directors of ‘Pousheshhay-e Mohafez Payeh Aab Pavan’ group.

“This coating is used in much smaller thicknesses than glass wool and stone wool which is of great importance in building facilities. The durability of this insulation is high and it does not have the corrosion common in industrial coatings. The insulation itself adheres to the surface and is highly durable due to the elimination of condensation,” she added.

“The product is proper for reducing the temperature of the external surfaces of industrial equipment, including tanks and reactors, and it also reduces fuel and energy consumption in equipment with high temperature and thermal energy, specially in petrochemicals, refineries and metal industries,” Saffarian said.
