Iran's Well-known University to Host Festival to Optimize "Teflon" Formulations
According to a report by the AUT public relations department, the third Festival of FASTAC concentrated on "Biocompatible Teflon" to optimize the formulation of Teflon raw materials and reduce the carcinogenic and pathogenic effects of the materials to produce Teflon coating will be held this summer at the AUT.
The most important topis of this festival will be reducing the toxic effects of Teflon with using nano materials in making Teflon, increasing the adhesion strength of Teflon and increasing its durability.
Innovators and people who have creative and innovative ideas in that field would be welcomed to send their ideas and participate in the festival in order to contribute to improving the public health, the AUT announcement also said.
The ultimate goal of this festival is to select the best ideas and designs that could be commercialized.
Teflon cookware has been proven to be carcinogenic due to the materials they are produced from which include polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) and perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA). When these substances are removed from cookware and swallowed with food, they could cause cancer in the body.
In addition to receiving cash prizes and financial support for their projects, the winners of the third FASTAC festival will benefit from accelerated support for turning ideas into products and the privilege of advantage idea owners to large Teflon companies.
