“Application of this device has led to reduction in hand tremors with an average of 94 minutes, and we designed it to reduce tremors for essential tremor patients with the help of adaptive electrical stimulation,” said Massoud Rahmati, a master's student in business management at Amirkabir University of Technology.

He explained that the device can reduce the amplitude of the vibration by receiving the feedback of the intensity and frequency of the vibration and simulating the patient’s nerves fully adaptably and in a controlled manner.

Rahmati stated that the device is capable of changing the current stimulation parameters and apply stimulation in the moment, expressing the hope that it would be available for all patients in the medical equipment market very soon.

Essential tremor disorder is a neurological condition that causes your hands to shake rhythmically. The head, trunk and voice might also be involved, but hand shaking is most prominent. The cause is not known, but it is often passed down from a parent to a child.
