Iran's Foreign Ministry on Saturday denounced the recent US military strikes on several sites along the country's southern coastline, accusing Washington of violating both international law and the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed on June 18 to end hostilities.

In an official statement, the ministry said the US attacks on Iranian coastal surveillance facilities constituted a "clear violation" of Article 2(4) of the United Nations Charter, which prohibits the use of force against the territorial integrity and political independence of states. Tehran also argued that the strikes breached the first clause of the Islamabad memorandum aimed at ending the conflict.

The ministry further accused Israel of violating the agreement by carrying out attacks against Lebanon in coordination with the United States, describing the actions as another breach of the ceasefire framework.

Reaffirming Iran's right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter, the statement stressed that the Islamic Republic would continue to safeguard its sovereignty, national security, and interests "with all its might."

According to the ministry, subsequent strikes carried out by the Iranian Armed Forces against targets linked to the United States were conducted within the framework of legitimate self-defense. Tehran said responsibility for any escalation and its consequences rests with the United States and any parties supporting or facilitating what it described as acts of aggression against Iran.

Iran also urged countries along the southern coast of the Persian Gulf to adhere to the principle of good neighborliness and prevent their territories and facilities from being used to support hostile actions against the Islamic Republic.

The Foreign Ministry called on the United Nations Secretary-General, the UN Security Council, and other international bodies to respond to what it termed a serious violation of international law and to fulfill their responsibilities in maintaining regional and global peace and security.

The statement came after the US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Friday that it had conducted strikes on what it described as Iranian missile and drone storage facilities, as well as coastal radar sites, in response to an alleged Iranian attack on a commercial vessel transiting the Strait of Hormuz.

Hours later, Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said it had launched retaliatory operations targeting US military assets in the region.

The latest escalation occurred just over a week after Tehran and Washington signed a 14-point Islamabad memorandum intended to halt hostilities on multiple fronts, including Lebanon, ease sanctions, remove restrictions on maritime activity, and restore commercial navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
