Iranian Researchers Create Value Chain for Nutrient-Rich Weed
Scientists believe that the product contains valuable ingredients effective in treatment of type2 diabetes and reduction of sugar and fat, and is also considered a suitable supplement for the athletes.
“We were able to adapt and localize two varieties of oats named Euro and Koval in Iran by studies we carried out on different oat seed genotypes,” said Hadi Kianinejad, the manager of a technological company stationed at the Campus.
Noting that they have introduced and presented the adapted varieties of oats to the Iranian farmers, he said, “We supply the seeds to the farmers while the company's experts also stand beside farmers during the planting and harvesting stages.”
“Currently, we have produced and commercialized four products of peeled oats, bulgur, flakes and flour from the oat,” Kianinejad said.
Oats, formally named Avena sativa, is a type of cereal grain from the Poaceae grass family of plants.
The grain refers specifically to the edible seeds of oat grass, which is what ends up in our breakfast bowls.
Oats are among the healthiest grains on earth. They're a gluten-free whole grain and a great source of important vitamins, minerals, fiber, and antioxidants.
