IRGC Reveals Details of Foiled Foreign-Backed Riots in Iran
In its third statement regarding recent unrest, issued on Friday to coincide with the Islamic months of Sha’ban and the Day of the Guardsman, the IRGC Intelligence Organization reaffirmed its commitment to the families of those martyred during the events.
The statement explained that the terrorist incidents in January were orchestrated in the aftermath of the 12-day war and executed hastily following what the IRGC described as strategic failures by the “system of domination.”
According to the statement, the unrest formed part of a wider US‑Israeli plan that was neutralized due to the readiness of Iran’s security and law enforcement forces and the vigilance of the Iranian public. It noted that a so-called “enemy command room” comprising 10 hostile and competing intelligence agencies had been established immediately after the 12-day conflict to coordinate terrorist actions inside Iran.
Documents and intelligence from this command structure revealed that the operation relied on three main pillars: internal unrest, military intervention, and activation of group-based movements, all aimed at creating an existential threat to Iran.
In response, the IRGC launched a series of intelligence and countermeasure operations, targeting both the internal unrest and group-based movement elements. The measures included:
Arresting or summoning 735 individuals linked to anti-security networks
Guiding and advising 11,000 at-risk individuals
Raising awareness among vulnerable social groups and professions
Seizing 743 illegal military and hunting weapons
Identifying 46 members of networks cooperating with foreign intelligence services
The statement concluded by describing the recent unrest as a “weakened and redesigned” version of the enemy’s combined operation, aimed at undermining the Islamic Establishment and fragmenting Iran’s national and geographic unity.
