“These products include lightweight building blocks and materials with unique properties that are produced with fiber-filled polymers,” said Alireza Abbaspour, an expert at the Nanotechnology Research Center of the Islamic Azad University’s Tabriz branch.

He described reduction of the need for gypsum and dust as one of the advantages of the product, saying, “Due to the polymer reinforcement, the produced blocks and materials can be used without the need for traditional additives. Water absorption and insulation are other advantages of the product. These materials enjoy the capability to absorb water and provide thermal and acoustic insulation, which reduces energy costs and improves building efficiency.”

“Reducing cost and weight are other advantages. Polymer-reinforced blocks are up to 50 percent lighter than similar concrete blocks, which decreases transportation and installation costs,” Abbaspour said.

“These products are produced on an industrial scale and can be used for construction projects. This is the first time that such lightweight and reinforced blocks have been produced as building materials in Iran and can be used in construction complexes. This technology not only provides economic savings, but also provides technical advantages like insulation and weight reduction,” he added.

The 16th International Nano Technology Exhibition and the First Exhibition of Advanced Technologies of Iran was inaugurated at the Tehran International Fairground.

Held from November 2 to 5, the Nano Exhibition featured over 150 innovative companies showcasing advancements in nanotechnology. Meanwhile, the Exhibition of Advanced Technologies hosted 80 knowledge-based and technological products, attracting visitors, particularly students, researchers, and investors.
