“The first Iran Farr Exhibition opened with the aim of gathering and showcasing the top achievements of the country's knowledge-based companies. In this national event, 80 knowledge-based products selected from 650 evaluated projects were showcased,” said Iranian Vice-President for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy Hossein Afshin.

He added the products presented in the exhibition have a total of more than $1.35 billion in foreign exchange savings for the country.

“The criteria for selecting the products were receiving official licenses in the past year, having advanced technologies, economic and social impact, and a strategic position in the national production chain. Each product has a detailed identity card including the time of obtaining licenses, applications, and the amount of foreign exchange savings,” Afshin said.

“Companies that have made it to this exhibition will receive special financial and infrastructure support, including facilities for product development, increased production, equipping laboratory infrastructure, and facilitating the process of receiving support from the Innovation and Prosperity Fund of Iran,” he underlined.

Afshin had announced in September a significant increase in the income of knowledge-based companies in the past Persian calendar year (ended on March 20).

“The income of these companies has reached 1,833 trillion tomans (Iran's currency), which has increased by 60% compared to the previous year,” Afshin said.

Noting that the share of sales of knowledge-based products has increased by 40% last year compared to the previous year, he added, “This figure indicates an 81% share of knowledge-based products in the total sales of technological companies, which indicates the high share of these companies in the national economy.”

“Start-up companies, which constitute 67% of all knowledge-based companies, have a small share in the knowledge-based economy due to their nature,” Afshin said.
