Iran to Hold 2nd Edition of Nano Export Award
The Nano and Micro Technologies Development Headquarters will hold the second edition of the ‘NANO EXPORT AWARD’ in 2025 with the aim of honoring the top companies exporting nano-based products and encouraging the development of global markets.
This event, designed in line with the goals of the National Nano Science and Technology Development Document, focuses on introducing Iran’s technological capabilities in the international arena and promoting sustainable exports.
The first edition of this award was held in November 2024, simultaneously with the 15th National Nanotechnology Exhibition, during which seven leading companies in the field of nano product exports were honored. In the new edition, companies will be assessed in five competitive areas and the winners of each section will be honored at the 16th Nanotechnology Festival (November 2025).
The areas of competition for the 2025 Nano Export Award include total export volume, geographical scope of exports (number of target countries), product technology complexity (dollar value per kilogram of product), first exporting companies (first nano export in 2024), and export growth (highest growth compared to the previous year).
Iran has made nanotechnology a priority in recent years, achieving remarkable success. The nanotechnology research website StatNano has ranked Iran as fourth in the world in nanotechnology publications.
Earlier reports in 2024 said that Iran’s nanotechnology market has experienced significant and sustained growth over the past decade, and according to official figures, its average annual growth rate from 2013 to 2023 reached nearly 97%.
The average annual growth rate of 97% in the nano market means that the sales volume of nano-based products in Iran has doubled almost every year. This significant growth occurred while the largest jump was recorded in 2020 with a growth of 160%, and the growth in 2023 with 102%, exceeding the set targets (40%).
Despite the impact of factors like the increase in the exchange rate and inflation on the country’s economic indicators since 2017, Iran’s nanotechnology market has continued to enjoy sustained growth, and even the share of exports in this field reached 57,100 billion rials in 2023 (equivalent to 9.2% of the total market).
