Official: Foreign Trade by Iranian Knowledge-Based Companies Surpasses 249 Million Dollars in 7 Months

TEHRAN (ANA)- Head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Alireza Moqaddasi said that the Iranian knowledge-based companies’ trade with foreign states has reached over 249 million dollars in the first seven months of the current Persian calendar year (started on March 21).

“The foreign trade of knowledge-based companies that are on the list of authorized economic operators (AEO) was more than 52, 939 tons worth of over 249,337,000 dollars in the first seven months of the current year,” Moqaddasi said.

He added that at present, 64 knowledge-based companies are on the list of authorized economic operators (AEO) of the customs office, adding that 33 companies have commercial activities in the field of non-oil exports and 54 companies are active in the imports areas.

According to Moqaddasi, 14, 975 tons of non-oil exports worth of nearly 43,172,000 dollars, and 37,964 tons of non-oil imports worth of 206,165,000 dollars formed the foreign trade of the Iranian knowledge-based companies in the same period.

“The exports of the knowledge-based companies decreased by 1% in terms of weight and increased by 90% in terms of value, and the amount of imports decreased by 5% in terms of weight and 12.5% in terms of value in the first seven months of the current year,” he stated.

Earlier this months, the Customs Administration’s spokesman said that Iran’s foreign trade increased by 10% percent in value in the first seven months of the current Persian calendar year.

Iran's trade exchanges in the seven months of this year surpassed 81 million tons worth $60.133, marking a 10 percent rise in value, Morteza Emadi said.

Iran exported 61.283 million tons of goods valued at $28.406 billion in the first seven months, he added.

The official stated that liquefied propane, methanol, liquefied butane, film-grade polyethylene, petroleum bitumen, liquefied natural gas, urea, iron and steel ingots, and light oils and petroleum products were the main exported products.

The mentioned products account for 41.9 percent of the total value of the exports, he noted.

China, Iraq, the UAE, Turkey, and India have been the five major destinations for exporting Iranian goods, Emadi said.
