Official: 100 Knowledge-Based Companies Ready to Help Development of Iran’s Mines, Mining Industries

TEHRAN (ANA)- A senior Iranian official said that a hundred knowledge-based companies have voiced readiness to assist the development of the country’s mines and mining industries.

Hossein Mansouri, the executor of the project to create an ecosystem of innovation and technology in the mining and mineral industries sector (IMINO), described presentation of innovative and creative ideas as the need of the mining industries, saying that IMINO’s goal is to support knowledge-based companies and start-ups.

He said that nearly 7,634 knowledge-based companies are active in Iran, adding that 450 companies have been identified in the mining sector among which 100 companies have shown interest in cooperation with the mining and industries.

According to Mansouri, four companies have also been selected to present their capabilities in the health, safety and environment (HSE) sector.

The scientific cooperation between the academics and knowledge-based companies and the mining sector in Iran has increased in recent years.

Earlier this year, a professor of mining engineering at Islamic Azad University’s Sirjan branch announced commencement of the first smart mining system in Iran.

Mohammadreza Garmsiri told ANA reporter on the sidelines of the Asreh Omid scientific and technological exhibition held by Islamic Azad University in Tehran that he and his colleagues at the Islamic Azad University - Sirjan branch have developed a smart mining system.

Garmsiri said he and other professors at the university with their expertise in programming, intelligence artificial, mining engineering, industrial engineering and computer programming have developed the smart mining system for the first time in Iran, adding, this system has been completely developed from design stage to operational stage inside the country by the faculty members of the Sirjan Azad University.
