“The main mission of the Geological and Mineral Exploration Organization Iran is to prepare geological maps of the country, and this task continues to be pursued as a constant and central mission,” Shahbazi said.

“The most important difference that is being pursued in this period compared to previous periods is the quantitative increase in the production of geological maps on a scale of one fifty thousandth,” he added.

“The annual production rate is supposed to increase by five times, while at the same time the quality of the maps is also maintained and even improved,” Shahbazi said.

“One of our strategies to achieve this goal is to use modern technologies, specially artificial intelligence algorithms, in preparing maps, which is currently one of the organization's focus areas,” he underlined.

In a relevant development in April, Head of the Geology and Mineral Exploration Organization Darioush Esmayeeli announced that over 21,000 scientific reports have been registered in Iran’s geological system.

“Last year, nearly 21,400 recession reports were registered in the database, and we created two new tasks in the system; one is marine geological management, specially the Persian Gulf, and the other is an extraterrestrial system related to extraterrestrial geological studies, in which existing information from different countries like Africa and ECO member countries, etc., is recorded in the form of maps or reports,” Esmayeeli said.

He underlined significant progress in strengthening the geoscience database of Iran, and said, “At present, this database includes historical and valuable data that was not previously available to the public, while this data can help investors make better decisions about investing in the mining sector.”
